The extra information given below is important in addition to our special care to ensure optimum flowering. All our bulb packs carry instructions on the ideal planting depth and planting time. You will get the best results if you follow these instructions closely. The flowering time depends strongly on the country in which you live. For example, in Northern Europe the bulbs flower later than in Southern Europe.
Here are some additional tips per species:
| Dahlias |
Deadhead spent flowers. Remove side flowers to obtain even larger blooms. |
| Lilies |
Plant Oriental lilies in a secluded part of the garden so that you are not bothered by the pollen. |
| Gladioli |
Plant gladioli in a sheltered spot. |
| Tulips |
Do not plant tulips in the same spot in your garden each year. Use a rotation system, removing the old bulbs from the soil after flowering each year. |
| Narcissi |
These plants flower readily and have no specific soil requirements. |
| Hyacinths |
Heavy flowers will require a support. |
| Snowdrops |
Snowdrops flower well anywhere, even in the shade. |
| Grape hyacinths |
They feel quite happy planted among other garden plants. |
| Crocussus |
Leave to die down after flowering if you want them to naturalise. |
A rule of thumb for all varieties is to plant at a depth of three times the height of the bulb.
